Municipality Turnaround Strategy

The Local Government Turnaround Strategy (November 2009) is a deliberate government plan aimed at counter-acting forces undermining the local government system by enabling municipalities to be more responsive to the challenges they face taking into consideration their unique socio-economic, political and
financial variables within which they operate. 

The LGTAS represents a government-wide response mechanism to address in a sustainable manner the problems facing municipalities identified in the State of the Local Government Report (2009) by deploying a differentiated and targeted approach to support them taking into account their unique socio-economic, political and financial variables.
